What not to wear on a photo shoot this fall
The number one question clients ask before their photo session is, what do I wear?
That’s always a tough question. Much of the decision comes down to personal choice. However, here are some important pointers about what usually doesn’t work in front of the camera.
- Neons and busy patterns usually spell trouble, especially if more than one person is wearing a pattern
- All white clothing is also hard to pull off because it tends to flush people out. White will also make pale individuals look even paler.
- Fall colors such as oranges, rich yellows, burgundy reds, dark teals or purples work perfectly as well as darker shades of blues
- Try to find one central color that everyone coordinates with, but it doesn’t have to be the same shade. For example, mix your family in a hue of blues ranging from light blue turquoise to navy blue.
- Layer! Layering adds texture and depth to your clothes and works perfectly for the chilly fall days. Add a cardigan or a scarf to your outfit. How about a blazer for dad? The possibilities are endless
- Avoid logos or graphic t-shirts, they tend to be distracting in images
- Accessorize! Make it personal by wearing a favorite hat or necklace
- Wear something you are comfortable in. Nothing looks more awkward than someone who isn’t comfy in their pants.
- Be timeless: the last thing you want is to have a great picture you refuse to hang on the wall 10 years from now because you are wearing something “in vogue” this year but clearly not meant for the ages
